Open-source and FFmpeg license notice

Components formerly used by the video and audio conversion tools, and the current license review status.

Current status: conversion tools paused

Eleven FFmpeg-based tools and their browser runtime are no longer publicly served. Video snapshots and subtitle-format conversion remain available because they do not use FFmpeg.

SHA-256 (previous FFmpeg core WebAssembly binary): 9f57947a5bd530d8f00c5b3f2cb2a3492faa7e5d823315342d6a8656d0a6b7b7

Matching-source rebuild verified

On October 13, 2026, the JavaScript loader and WebAssembly built from the 17 sources below matched the previously distributed files byte for byte. The sources and build recipe are available below. Conversion tools remain paused while we review the remaining license obligations and integration scope.

New conversion engine candidate: source public, tools paused

We have published 15 pinned source archives, component notices and rebuild instructions for a separate build without GPL codecs. Its browser binary and conversion tools are not public. We will review LGPL obligations and on-page notices before reopening supported features.

The candidate uses code from the FFmpeg, LAME, FriBidi and FreeType projects. Some FFmpeg files include work of the Independent JPEG Group. Each component remains the property of its respective copyright holders.

Before reopening

Source correspondence is verified. We will review the LGPL relinking requirements for the statically linked libraries and component notices before deciding which supported tools can reopen.
