CCTV storage is estimated from the number of cameras, average bitrate per camera, recording hours per day, and retention period. H.264/H.265, resolution, FPS, and quality are used only as guidance for selecting an average bitrate.
Advanced settings can include audio recording, event-recording ratio, and additional capacity reserved for NVR and file-system operation.
Actual storage requirements and recording duration may vary by camera manufacturer, scene complexity, codec settings, VBR behavior, NVR settings, and storage configuration.
